Champion Bloodlines

On this page you will find information about the lovely mares who grace the fields at Big Sky Ranch.  Each mare has champion bloodlines and are bred to top ranking stallions. 

FELICITAS

Felicitas is daughter of renowned Freestyle, a Premium black, 17hh Westfalen stallion with Class 1 status, who in turn, is the son of the champion Rhinelander stallion Florestan I. Like her sire, who was awarded a "10" for character and "9" for temperament at the 100 Day Test at Prussendorf, Felicitas is a well-behaved mare with a calm and gentle temperament. Felicitas also has notable bloodlines via her dam line. She is granddaughter of Rosier, a modern Oldenburg awarded Premium status is 1993, who has three outstanding basic paces. The great grandsire of Felicitas is Rubinstein I, an accomplished, Olympic dressage performer, and considered by federal trainer of the German dressage elite, Johann Hinneman, to be "stallion of the century." Felicitas has been schooled in dressage, and has elastic movement and good rideability. For the past five years Felicitas has been a broodmare, with one year off during that time. Felicitas stands at 16.3hh.

FREEDA

Freeda is a striking black mare who is both gentle and brave. Freeda's sire is Freestyle, who has a German dressage index of 151 points, the highest in North America, and is in the top one per cent of all German dressage stallions. Freeda has basic schooling under saddle. Freeda's grandsire is, Florestan I, a champion stallion through whom she has inherited high rideability. Freeda's dam line goes back to Donnerhall, one of the greatest dressage sires of the century whose offspring typically inherit a strength for collection and fantastic temperament. Freeda's grandsire on her dam line is De Niro, an exceptional stallion recognised for his superlative type and and legendary performance in dressage. Since 2015  Freeda has been a broodmare. She is an exceptionally good and protective mother and is the dominant mare in the herd. Freeda measures 17hh.

HARMONY

Harmony was a beautiful black mare with a kind temperament and gentle spirit.  She had a calm demeanour and was good to handle.  She inherits this from her sire  Hajo.   

Harmony's pedigree boasts extraordinary bloodlines from Germany's top stallions.  Both her grand sire Hochadel and great grand sire Hohenstein were Elite Stallions and had very successful careers.  Harmony's lineage also includes legendary Donnerhall, international Grand Prix horse, and one of the most successful dressage sires of all time.

Big Sky Ranch mourns Harmony's passing in 2020.  Her legacy lives on in her progeny, Rockstar.

QUIDAMZA

Quidamza is a striking liver chestnut mare with a renowned bloodlines.  Quidamza's grandsire was the very famous show jumper, Quidam de Revel, who sired a number of outstanding offspring. (Click here to view some of his famous sons and daughters).  Quidamza measures 16.1hh.
